I'm looking to purchase and install a ceiling mounted projector, but have no idea how to run my laptop through it when it's 12 feet over my head. I would install it against the back wall of my room but would prefer to have the laptop with me near the front of the room (about 30feet away). Any Ideas?

For Christmas this year (’08) I got my first laptop (Toshiba Satellite L305D) I will be using that computer to create and present many training programs using PowerPoint presentations. My question is this, what do I need to connect my laptop to a projection monitor and/or another computer? One of the places I know that I will be doing a lot of my training sessions has a desk top computer connected to a ceiling mounted projector, but I’m not familiar with how to connect my laptop to projection equipment. If it is simply connecting a universal cord of some sort; I would like to purchase my own, that way I can use it when I go to other facilities to present.

I need to buy a signal amplifier for a ceiling mounted projector. I need some ideas on the best places to buy one and the best brand to buy. I don't need anything fancy. Dual input and or output would be nice. Thanks in advance for any assistance!

The cable runs from the ceiling projector through the ceiling, and into a wall outlet that basically has a gender bender where another cable is attached to give access to a laptop. I contacted BenQ, the manufacturer, and a techie friend of mine who both said I needed a signal amplifier to fix a ghosting issue I am having with the projector.

I get digital TV, including HD, from the cable company. I have a ceiling mounted projector (older) and it is connected to the co-ax cable directly. I want to change the projector to a Sanyo PLV-Z60, which accepts HDMI. I cannot have a cable box where the projector is installed, as it is too big. Is there a small (3x3x1) box that accepts coax and outputs HDMI?
Thanks one/all for the answers. They seem to confirm that such a box is not out there, yet. Strange. If cable-box makers (like Cisco/SA) can make cable-boxes that take in digital co-ax and out HDMI, I would think that others could too.

I'm wanting to connect a dvd player(hdmi) to a ceiling mounted projector(vga). Will the conversion degrade the quality of the picture? The two devices are about 30 feet apart, so I figure, get the shortest hdmi cable I can, connect it to the conversion box and run the rest of the length with vga. Would this length deteriorate the signal?

Budget=0+/- (no labor, I will do all installation myself) including the ceiling mount construction. I was a carpenter before.
Dark bedroom....12' w x 12' w x 8' h..... Ceiling mounted projector would be connected to my HD cable box, for regular television viewing and the occasional movie. Distance from projector to screen approx. 11'. What is the approx. picture size at that distance? 40"? 50"? 19"b&w?jk
I live on fixed Social Security Disability Income and have been saving for a long time and I cannot screw this up... I must buy the correct technology/setup/machine for my application to get the best picture quality possible.I have been researching SVGA vs. XGA etc...
This has brought me to the conclusion that I need to just ask a professional.
Please recommend a product, model number, link, etc.. for my application below;
I want to watch cable TV and the occasional movie, and do it using my Comcast HD cable box..all the outputs are there..HDMI, optical, etc...
(I currently have it connected to a little 19" old old tube type tv...I only rent the HD cable box because it gets History channel.)
My room is 12' 6" wide with no windows and 8' ceilings.
I intend to sit up in bed and watch TV over the tops of my feet..on the wall opposite my headboard is where the screen would be mounted. It is always very dark in my bedroom.
I intend to hang the projector right about directly above my head facing the wall opposite my headboard..8' ceiling height...which would put the projector about ....
11' from the screen....
IMPORTANT:= How large will the picture be at this distance?...Please estimate for me the approximate size of the picture if I set it up like that.
I want to have the best picture quality I can afford to buy for 0 +/-.
I have looked at these two below...but you can recommend any link, product, site, etc...one is xga and one is SVGA...I dont know what and at this point dont want to know what I am looking at here below...I have researched this until my head hurts..I have learned much..but now only more confused than when I began..Please just say, "dude...go to www.****.com and buy model number ******. "
Or better yet just gimme a link... please? jk
Here are two I have looked at;

I know I sound like one of the lazy teens on here that ask us to do their math homework for them...usually I would do my own research as I have with this also....but now I am only more scared than I was before that I might screw this up and end up with the wrong thing for my application....so your advice...or actually your telling me where to go on the web and what to buy and have shipped to me....would be appreciated greatly.....I have to get this right the first time.
Please recommend the projector and screen that I need to buy...
Thank you in advance for your time,
Perry in FL

I would like to get a webcam to project student writing and other work through my ceiling-mounted projector. I need to know what type of webcam would pick up details like words written in pencil well, and how I could mount the webcam so I could place papers under it and still be able to write on them. I don't know too much about this type of equipment, so please be specific. Links for buying are appreciated too.
