How can I hide a projector in a normal wall?

l'll try my best to provide the details...I appreciate any and all responses.

I am using a high-traffic room in the house as a home theatre room.

I want to do something to hide the projector as well. I can't use the ceiling area for a couple of reasons, so that only leaves the wall directly opposite the screen. The wall is a standard 3 1/2 cavity and my projector is 2.9" tall, so it will fit standing "on end". My basic plan is to cut out a 12"x16" chunk of drywall and replace with a piece of hardwood or steel. (not decided yet). The projector will mount to this piece and this piece will hinge to the wall itself (actually the new framing that I will put in the wall). The otherside will have a picture attached to hide everything. I have two issues...a hinge that extends approximately 1.5 inches before rotating and a type of linear actuator or motor that will lower the "mount" to the correct position and of course - retract it.

I am probably in the minority with this, but I absolutely hate the glossy black televisions that are now being made and am unsatisfied with glare issues with most of them. I am now considering a projector setup for viewing movies (old & new in 16:9 and 4:3) as well as over-the-air broadcasted network channels (ABC, NBC, etc) but in a not-so-gigantic view as might be possible (limit screen size to 46-60"). Here are my questions upon considering the Epson PowerLite Pro Cinema 1080 and 1080 UB:http:

//www.projectorcentral.com/Epson-PowerLite_Pro_Cinema_1080_UB.htm

1. My maximum viewing distance is 8 feet. The projector could sit as far away (until it is stopped by a wall) 8-1/5 feet. Will the resulting picture be less sharp, less contrasted, or in anyway pixelated/distorted with such a small picture (40-60" depending on where I have the projector mounted) for which the projector is not originally designed?

2. I'm assuming I will need an amplifier for audio but where would I buy an excellent digital and HDTV tuner ?

3. Is there an easy way to use one remote to power-on all of the hardware (projector, amplifier, tuner, DVD player)?

4. The room is in a basement and can either have no light, dimmed light from rear ceiling spotlights, or full light from separate fluorescent ceiling lights. Will the specified lumens (1200 for one projector and 1600 for the other model) be enough for all of these lighting conditions?

5. Are there any blurryness, pixelation, or graininess issues from projectors as there can be with LCD television when viewing fast action sports (I noticed some distortion even with the 120hz LCD televisions).

6. I'm sure it depends greatly on the type of screen that I have but how are issues with glare/reflection with projector pictures? For example, during a dark movie scene do you see yourself in the screen or only the action on the screen?

Thanks very much for any advice you may provide. I am new to understanding this technology and am trying to make good choices.

I need help in finding a projector for a church?

The church that I attend recently decided to replace our existing projector. The current projector is a Toshiba TDP-S25U. This projector is mounted in the ceiling and aimed at a screen that has a diagonal of 120".

I'm looking for a projector, (preferably Sanyo) that has 3,000+ lumens (the church has 10 large windows that arn't covered up so it needs to be bright), LCD, and has the same throw ratio as the TDP-S25U. The maximum this unit can cost is ,000. The ,000 includes the lens. The church wants the projector to have a warrany as well so I can't get it used either.

Can you tell me some good models in this price range that would meet the requirments? Thanks.

I picked up a Viewsonic PJ506D projector with a free 80" screen and ceiling mount. I live in an apartment and don't want the landlord freaking out when they walk in and see a projector hanging from the ceiling.

Seeing as I no longer need or want an "entertainment center", I got this idea about how to mount it. Buy a end table sized "entertain center" to store my Dvd, Wii and HTPC in. Attached a stained to match 1x4 to the "entertainment center. with a shelf hanging out on top of the 1x4 near the ceiling. the then mount the projector on the underside of the raised "platform as if it were the ceiling. I could then duct the wired back down and into the base. I would then put in between two of the viewing chairs as a end table.

Has anyone else ever seen someone do this. I would feel more confident modding an endtable if I have seen pics of someone else doing it.

think it will work?
